This course is for
those of you who want to travel by air and paint, or who just don’t want to carry much weight when painting outdoors.
I have spent hundreds of hours (and thousands of dollars), working out the lightest
combination of equipment for both my international adventures, and also
for when I have to hike to good painting spots. This course will save you money, and at the
same time help save your back! I only wish someone had told me
all of this before.
In this course I describe:
- how to make
your own palette and palette carrier. I’ve included detailed
step-by-step procedures and exact dimensions of the final version
I now use to save you the hours and hours of work I went through
in building different prototypes.
- how to carry wet paintings and palettes and not
get paint all over your clothes and vehicle
- how to prevent wasting lots of paint by having it dry out on your
palette
- the different types of outdoor easel you can buy and the pros and cons of each type to save you wasting money on the wrong equipment
- tips for carrying loose canvas or linen to save weight when traveling
- how to make the best (and cheapest) medium cup
- how to make value finders and black mirrors (to help you if you are struggling with values)
- how to solve the painting umbrella problem (what I've learned after buying five umbrellas!)
- how to make your own palette, palette carrier, and stretched canvas carrier
- how to pack 24 large canvases in one airline suitcase without exceeding the airline weight or size limit
I also include lots of tips I’ve found extremely helpful
to me to solve various problems that used to get in the way of my
painting trips.
As with every job, each year I learn something new and continue to refine my travel systems – this course is Edition 2.0 and has substantial changes from Edition 1.0 (including a new canvas packing system, a new palette and palette carrier, and a far healthier system for cleaning brushes).
