Guy Rose 1867 - 1925) was born in San Gabriel, California. He was one of the most well known American Impressionist painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work is of a similar quality to Monet's, but maybe not as sophisticated as Monet's optical color mixing technique. Although he is one of the most recognized of the American Impressionists, his composition and notan structure does not approach the quality of William Ritschel's composition in my opinion, neither that of Edgar Payne.
